About me.

So you’d like to know a little bit about me. My name is Gerard O’ Brien and I am a qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist based in Cork. I am an ACCREDITED member of IACP (Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I follow a strict code of ethics and professionalism. Counselling is also known as talk therapy. I offer private therapy sessions for adults on a long, medium or short-term basis.

Some more about me. I am married and I am a father. In the past I was a long distance runner and use to run a lot of marathons until I got injured in 2014. This was a difficult time in my life as running was my passion. Since then I have had to deal with this loss. But I try and get out walking when I can.

I play guitar and love to listen to audio books. I’m passionate about the work I do as a psychotherapist. I know through my own upbringing and family of origin that I have become a helper. This is what I do in life.

Sometimes life can be difficult but I am here to support you as you explore the problems that are causing you unease in your life.

I am an accredited EMDR Practitioner & Psychotherapist. I hold my accreditation with both the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and EMDR All-Ireland / EMDR Europe.

Ger is the Communications Liaison Officer for the Munster Group of EMDR Ireland. Ger is also the secretary for the EMDR All – Ireland Communications Committee.
